Participation Guide

  1. All educational Sessions are open to all Toastmasters. Non-Toastmasters are welcome to join.

  2. Club officers can fulfill the officer training attendance credit (COT#2) by joining any three (3) sessions of their choice with the camera on during the entire session.

  3. Attendance will count in all offices if you are a club officer in multiple clubs.

Cajetan Barretto is a certified trainer, public speaker, behavioral assessor, and passionate Toastmaster at Al-Sayer Holding in Kuwait. He achieved numerous accolades, including Distinguished Toastmaster status in June 2020. Cajetan was awarded the prestigious District Toastmaster of the Year for 2018-2019 during DTAC 2020.

Tarek Desir, originally from Miami, gained valuable experience with Toastmasters in Greece. He leads teams, represents his company, and simplifies complex ideas. He’s a VP of Education for Athens Toastmasters Academy, a two-time Public Relations Manager for District 109, and promotes collaboration among all clubs to showcase incredible talent.

Florian joined Toastmasters in 2013 to overcome social anxiety. He later became a member of the District 91 (U.K. South) Leadership team and introduced new initiatives that helped the District achieve Distinguished status in 2019/2020. Toastmasters changed Florian’s life, and he now mentors leaders worldwide. He is a data science coach for Multiverse, the U.K.’s top EdTech provider.

Paola, born in Verona, Italy, has a B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University. For 28 years, she managed three clothing stores, handling all offline and online communication needs. Over ten years, she gained extensive knowledge in Social Media platforms, content creation, and PR. She has been an active Toastmasters member since 2018, served as VPPR 2019/20, Division PR Assistant 2020/2021, and PR Manager for District 109. Additionally, she has conducted webinars on PR topics for various regions.

Carina Schey, DTM, PhD, is a 2023 International Speech Semifinalist. She is a healthcare economist from Switzerland who specializes in new treatments for rare diseases.
Karina Castella joined Toronto’s #1 Toastmasters in 2012 to overcome her fear of public speaking. She continued with Bryant Park Toastmasters in New York and Zuriberg Toastmasters Club in Zurich.
Mario Plasencia joined Toastmasters Bern in 2009 and has served as Club President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant at Arms. He was the Area Director and Division Director for District 3 and Contest Chair for the International Speech Contest at the 2023 District 109 Conference.

Granny Be007 has been a passionate Toastmaster since 2001. She believes that you only learn much if you D.O. much. She is one of the two Program Quality Directors focusing on Learning and Development for District 74. With three D.T.M.s, she is always ready to assist and support members. Granny Be007 is also the author of the book “How Leading… with Results WORK!” She comes from Swakopmund, Namibia, and is an avid walker who recently completed the 90km Fish River Canyon.

Brigita Tomas, D.T.M., has been an active Toastmasters member since 2015. She has held various leadership roles, such as V.P.E. President, Area Director, and Division Director. Currently, she serves as the Secretary of her home club and Program Quality Chair in District 109. Brigita is a soft skills trainer and mentor by profession and loves traveling, reading, and spending time with friends.

Berit joined Toastmasters in Zurich in 2017. She uses Toastmasters opportunities to improve her public speaking, communication, presentation, and leadership skills. She has held various positions such as Area Director, Secretary, mentor, club coach, District Chief Judge, and District 109 Parliamentarian.

Manasseh joined Toastmasters in the United States in 2014 and joined the Jerusalem Toastmasters in 2021. He is a fan of Robert’s Rules of Order and participates in Toastmasters Contests, with aspirations to participate in the top levels of the International Speech Contest.

Colleen Shaughnessy-Larsson, DTM PDD for District 59, constantly learns by sharing knowledge and looking for fun in Toastmasters. Her trajectory in Toastmasters has been aimed toward leadership, which has taken a zig-zag path. This path has allowed her to start the first Youth Leadership Program in France (2016, which is still active) and step into District Leader roles in a hopscotch pattern. These and other activities have provided her with a vast Toastmasters network. She believes in having a Plan B in your back pocket. She loves physically traveling around the world. Colleen also has a website about Paris that has been active since 2002.
