D109 District Director’s Message – 2022-23

Fellow District 109 Toastmasters

Yesterday, thanks to you all, we celebrated the end of a challenging but enriching Toastmasters year. Today, we continue our celebrations together – it is New Toastmasters Year!

We must continue our Toastmasters journey in a diverse district spanning two continents and various time zones. The district covers 16 different geographies where almost 3,000 members speak at least as many national languages. Our members live in multiple locations, ranging from the Pacific Ocean to the grassland steppes of Mongolia and from the Barents to the Arabian Seas. We are all familiar with tropical, arid, temperate, continental, and polar climates.

This year, we are excited to offer more educational opportunities to learn and create committees and teams to enhance our leadership abilities. We will prioritize more in-person interactions and use tools to enable those who cannot travel to participate. Our focus will be on the success of our members. We will seek sponsors and supporters to strengthen our community and establish a framework for growth. We also want to create space to pursue our dreams, including becoming the next World Champion of Public Speaking.
