Special notice from the DLC Chair: We thank those of our Fellow Toastmasters who have already applied for a role. As we do not yet have applications for all the positions though, I have been advised to extend the deadline for applications until Friday 3/2/2023 at midnight. This will be a final extension for all elected positions.

Open Call for Future District Leaders

Dear Fellow Toastmasters,

Even though we are currently busy with our mid-year Toastmasters’ activities, we are already looking for next year’s leaders!  Are you up for a challenge?

This is an open call for Nominations for District 109 Leadership roles for the 2023-2024 Toastmasters year (commencing on 1st of July 2023).

Why Apply?

Serving as a District Officer will give you the opportunity to really enhance your leadership skills through working in diverse teams, handling complex projects, developing conflict resolution techniques etc.  You will benefit from the valuable training received as well as the hands-on experience gained.

Moreover, as a District Officer, you will have the chance to meet regularly with other leaders from all over the world and exchange views and ideas.  This networking experience will further help with your self-development.

It should also be noted that serving in a District Officer role will help you meet the requirements to become a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM).

We invite you therefore to apply and take your leadership skills to the next level!

Which roles are available?

Altogether 45 District Officer positions are available – some are elected positions i.e. they will be filled following the elections held during the final District Council meeting of the year (in May 2023) while others are appointed positions i.e. to be chosen by the next year’s District Director.  The role of the District Leadership Committee (DLC) is to examine the candidates for eligibility and interview them to nominate the most suitable ones.

How to apply?

Please fill in the set of application documents and send them to the DLC Chair only at chair.dlc@district109.org.  Click on the link provided for the first three documents:

  1. Nomination Form

  2. Application Form

  3. Officer agreement and release form for the nominated candidate (please fill it out based on the officer role you are applying for, not your current role).

  4. Short bio (there is no specific format but it should not be more than one page long), answering the following questions:

  • What Toastmasters leadership roles have you held so far?

  • Why you? What value will you add to this role?

  1. Photo (headshot)

Please bear in mind the following:

  • You may nominate yourself or you can be nominated by another member in good standing (by filling in the nomination form on your behalf and sending it to the DLC Chair)

  • For elected positions, you do need to submit a formal application and be interviewed by DLC so that you can stand for election.

Process:

The DLC Chair will confirm receipt of application within 3 days.

Applications for candidates will then be reviewed by the District Leadership Committee to ensure they meet the prerequisites set by TI.  Eligible Candidates (for all positions except that of Area Director) will subsequently be invited to an interview by the DLC.  Interviews will begin in the first week of February and end in the third week of March.

The applications for Area Director positions will be checked for eligibility by the DLC and then forwarded to the current Area Director of the relevant Area since the nomination will be made by the Area Council.

Warning!

One word of advice: don’t make such an important decision without doing your homework first.  Do you want to know more about the roles and opportunities available? Would you also like to understand more about how the District Leadership Committee works?  We can help answer your questions.  We will have for you:

  • An information segment during the District 109 breaking news on 18th December 2022

  • Testimonials from past District Officers (to be posted on social media throughout the application period)

  • A District Webinar where past District Officers will share information about their experiences (to be held on 8th January 2023 at 18:00 CET until 19:30CET).  The Registration link is:
